Me,
my husband, Dan and our daughter Melina
Welcome
to Le Petit Home Day Care.
I
hope you're enjoying the site so far!
For as long as I can remember, I have
always wanted to become a teacher. My grandmother was a
teacher in Saskatchewan in the 1930's to 1940's and she always
fascinated me with her stories. It was the respect, love
and caring she provided for her students that kept them
interested. I used to say to myself "I could be like
that too!". I was visiting her one summer, when I was
eleven years old, as well as all eight of my younger
cousins. My great-uncle and great-aunt were watching me
with them around the campfire, giving them piggyback rides and
playing with them. My great-uncle told me I'd make an
excellent babysitter or teacher one day. He passed away
December 24, 2004, but he always told me how proud everyone is
because I stayed with my dreams.
I
graduated from Niagara College in 1996, continued my education
with a diploma in Teacher's Aid, as well as becoming certified
as an ECE in December 2004.
I have had
many jobs since college--custodian, cook, waitress, support
service attendant, librarian, special needs camp counselor,
Teacher's Aid and day care worker. Out of all these
jobs, if I try a different field, I'm always returning into a
profession that involves children in one way or another.
I have
three years experience with college placements in day care centers
and schools; nine years volunteering in
schools--developmentally delayed, kindergarten, library
programs and as a tutor in college.
I attend
regular workshops and trainings and am a member of several
organizations. I love working in the Early Childhood
Education profession because everyday is a challenge, an
adventure and interesting. There is not one day that is
the same. You see each child grow more and more each
day--mentally, emotionally, physically and developmentally.
I have worked in all age groups; infants, toddlers,
preschoolers, school-agers and even in the kitchen! It
is very fascinating to see them grow as they go into each
stage. Just watching them progress and knowing I had a
part of their growth makes all the hard work worth while.
I got
married to may soul-mate, Dan, in October 2003, we had our
daughter, Melina, in June 2004. I wanted to be a mother
and stay at home; that is when I decided to start my own day
care. I now can be a mother and a teacher at the same
time!
